Dunham [Enchanter Henchman]
Does this guy even do anything? I have brought him many times in hope of seeing him cast a spell.. and yet, nothing. I am skeptical of his usefulness because of the "Enchanter" tag, seeings as how mesmer aren't really known for the enchanting abilities (Only ones i can think of off the top of my head is illusion of haste, illusion of weakness, and illusionary weaponry)
If you have any information regarding this seemingly useless henchman let me know. |

Someone posted all his skills once. His most useful one I think is empathy which you don't notice. Bring him along run into a mob, don't bother fighting and click on him instead. Watch his skills.
Oh and Claude is better than Reyna if you want to survive with only henchmen. He has this +3 energy regen spell which he often uses on your healer henchmen for much longer healing abilities. |

According to the guide, Dunhams skills are as follows
Imagined Burden (level 8-17) Crippling Anguish (level 20) Shatter Hex Drain Enchantment Empathy Distortion Res Sig Claude has Shadow Strike Vampiric Gaze Deathly Swarm Blood Ritual Res Sig Grenth's Balance (level 20) Though I seem to recall the Claude disappears and gets replaced by Eve at level 20 her skills are listed as the same as Claude's |

Claude rules! As a Mo/Me, he constantly sacrifices himself for my pleasure. He tends to toss Blood Ritual my way after a large fight, not during when it would surely mess me up. He also seems understands that Vampiric Gaze is a melee attack and valiantly charges ahead of Stephan into battle to tear down all who oppose him.
But really, he does help a bit with BR. A few times he's really saved me with the extra energy regen. The mesmer guy I've only taken once, and just let him lay dead after the first mob. |

Dunham is the noisiest henchman in the game. Always casting enchantment spells whether he's in battle or not. That noise piss me off.

i use both Dunhams and Claude, althought i must say that Claude use more skills than Dunhams. Most of the time, Dunhams would only use his staff (regular attack) on enemies. While Clauda would cast Deadly Swwarm, Blood Ritual or shadow strike to help out.

Eve comes along with all the other story character, like Cynn and Devona, I think. How come mesmers don't get story characters? I don't even think they get important mesmer bosses. Oh well, at least they can continue stalling people at Thunderhead Keep and beyond

i usually interchange the use of claude and dunham.
in my opinion, reyna is probably the most under-used henchman in the game. hehe. |

I tend to use both.. even if it's only to watch the sparkly pink stuff Durnham has around him (I SOOO want that for my mesmer.. anyone know what it is?). He does have his uses, and tends to die less than Orion, guess he lives up to the mesmer thing of just 'watching' the battle without doing anything.

Reyna's not that great - although she *does* manage to survive the longest
I agree with the OP though, Dunham seems pretty useless as a mesmer. |

dunham is plenty useful, maybe you should try learning a little bit about mesmers before you go badmouthing this class and that class.
btw claude, the "second most useless henchman" uses blood ritual after i think yaks bend which has saved my ass more than once. |

I would agree that Dunham seems to be the least useful of the henchmen.
I play a Mesmer myself, and what I can say is that he is representative of what Mesmers go through in general. "Seeing is believing" and all that. But also, I would say that perhaps it takes a bit more skill and tact to play a successful Mesmer than the A.I. allows. It's notable that neither Claude nor Dunham appear as henchmen from the get go. Apparently, not deemed useful enough for Ascalon, etc. It's also notable that there are two Monk and two Warrior henchmen. When people fill spots, they tend to fill them with lump healing or lump tanking. It's assumable that if someone wants the skills of a Mesmer, they'll find someone who can play it well and not expect it of a henchmen. But, that's just what I think. |

Reyna's a good choice if you're playing a Ranger as you can use Favourable Winds to enhance her attacks too

Either of the necromancer henchmen, Claude/Eve are very useful. Simply because of Blood Ritual. Who wouldn't want faster mana regen? A warrior maybe. The only problem with the necromancer henchies is they have to get into melee range for one or 2 of their skills, usually resulting in their early death due to their lack of armor.
I couldnt say much for the enchanters though and Reyna/Aidan do last longer. |

I use Thom, Stefan/Devona, Orion/Cynn, Alesia/Mhenlo, Lina, and Claude/Eve. The other two aren't worth the XP and drops they leech.
Peace, -CxE

i always choose claude over dunham, everytime i go out with this guy for some reason i have all kinds of problems, i think it's because i have begun to rely on claude's +3 energy boost that he usually gives me. I think i've only tried using dunhamn like 2 or 3 times but only really when i'm bored and just exploring or messing around, especialy since the first time i took him on a mission and got my tail handed to me, then i picked up claude and ran through it with out a hitch.
